Lipedema is a clinical diagnosis: symmetrical fat distribution disorder of the limbs with pain on pressure and touch, a tendency to bruise and a disproportion that diet does not resolve.
Compression, manual lymphatic drainage and exercise reduce symptoms but do not remove diseased fat tissue. We treat them as a supportive framework, not as our main service.
Lymph-sparing liposuction using water-jet assisted (WAL) and vibration assisted (VAL) technique removes the pathological fat tissue permanently.

Open pageSince the 2024 decision, statutory funds in Germany can cover liposuction for lipedema from stage I onwards under defined conditions. However, we do not work with statutory funds: the techniques we use – in particular VAL and water-jet assisted liposuction with the corresponding theatre and anaesthesia standard – cannot be delivered at statutory reimbursement rates. Treatment with us is private or self-pay.
